John Dandrea
Recording Studio

In very recent years I began to get bit by the digital recording bug, and slowly I have assembled the basic components of what's known as a "DAW"   -  Digital Audio Workstation - a digital home recording studio. I use this specially-configured computer to compose and print sheet music; I also use it to drive the sequencing software that allows me to make multitrack recordings. I have a Eurorack digital mixer, Edirol sound interface, and even vocal tuning software by Melodyne to help me make the most of my poor natural vocal inabilities <smile>

I love to use these marvelous tools, but I hate to be both the sound engineer and the artist at the same time!  I imagine that many of you are in the same boat. Well..... here I am at present, bringing up a website to try to begin to tie it all together, and make a reality out of the music I've created -   Some tunes were written as long as 25-30 years ago and have never been recorded before!  I'm grateful that I finally have within my grasp the means to record them now, and to show my Dad that I may not have made music my day job, but I still made it my life..... !  Play on!

P.S.  Note here you see pics of one of the best little sound interfaces for the small-input home studio setup:  Edirol external USB box (pictured right) with 24bit/96 Khz capabilities, and the simple but elegant Behringer Eurorack 602A 4-channel mixer panel (pictured left).   It doesn't take much to get your ideas into digital recording these days (but it does take a lot of patience to put it all together in multi-track and mix the subtle levels of it all) !
